ChatGPT product visibility checker.
Check if ChatGPT is recommending your product, a competitor, or nobody. Five category-typical buyer prompts. Citation analysis. Free, no signup.
- Two live ChatGPT prompts (category-search + buying-intent) via GPT-4o with web search
- Per-prompt verdict: cited, mentioned, or missed
- Top 3 findings with the single highest-leverage fix (next findings unlock with email)
How it works
- Paste the product URL. The tool reads Shopify's public product JSON for category, key features, price, and availability.
- Add category context. Short description of buyer intent. The tool uses this to generate five realistic buyer prompts.
- eCommerce Insights queries ChatGPT with five buyer prompts. Each prompt asks ChatGPT a shopping question a real buyer would type. Answers captured, citation patterns analyzed.
- Review the citation report. Per-prompt badges, gap summary, and one concrete fix.
Sample output
Here is the report for a fictional product, the Ravenback Founder Parka. Three cited, one brand-only mention, one missed. Scores and prompts are illustrative.
What the data means
Each prompt returns one of three statuses. Cited means ChatGPT's answer includes your product by name, typically alongside two or three competitors. Brand means ChatGPT mentions your brand but does not link to this specific product — a signal that entity recognition is working but PDP-level signals are weak. Missed means neither brand nor product appears in the answer; competitors own the slot.
The gap summary picks the missed prompt with the highest expected lift from a single PDP change — usually adding an answer block that directly addresses the prompt language. Add 150 to 250 words to the PDP body that answers the question buyers are actually asking, re-run the checker in a week, and see whether the answer moves.
ChatGPT Shopping cites 1 to 3 products per query, based on eCommerce Insights' manual review of 200 queries in Q4 2025. The three citation slots are competitive. Per-prompt analysis tells you which slots you already win and which are worth fighting for.
Why eCommerce Insights built this
Most AI visibility tools report an aggregate number — "your brand is mentioned X times across AI engines this week." That number hides which products are cited, which prompts win, and which PDPs are invisible. A drop in aggregate mentions tells you something happened; it does not tell you what to fix.
The per-product, per-prompt view is the only view that turns into a real Tuesday-morning action list. Five prompts, five badges, five possible fixes. See the ChatGPT tracking page for the deeper mechanism.
Run the same check across every SKU, continuously.
The free checker tests one product on ChatGPT. The full eCommerce Insights product runs similar tests against every SKU in your Shopify catalog, weekly, across ChatGPT, Perplexity, and four other engines. Tracks movement. Flags regressions. Pushes recommendations.
