Perplexity launched its shopping hub with Buy with Pro in late 2024, per the company's announcement: US Pro subscribers see a buy option on eligible product cards and complete checkout inside Perplexity, with saved payment and shipping details and the merchant fulfilling the order. Merchants participate through Perplexity's merchant program, sharing product data that feeds both answer placement and checkout eligibility.
Buy with Pro sits inside a shopping experience that is otherwise citation-driven. Perplexity's shopping answers cite 3–7 sources per query as of mid-2026, leaning on trusted third-party review coverage; product cards stack beneath the written answer. Eligibility for in-app purchase is a separate property from being cited — a SKU can be cited but not purchasable in-app, or eligible but rarely surfaced.
In the three-stage frame of agentic commerce — research, draft carts, agent checkout — Buy with Pro is a stage-two surface that reaches into stage three: the answer drafts the purchase, the shopper confirms, and the transaction completes without a storefront visit.

Buy with Pro collapses the distance between recommendation and revenue. When the purchase happens inside the answer, the brand's site never logs the visit — analytics undercount the channel, and the only leverage left is whether the SKU got into the answer and whether its data supported the purchase flow.
