Superb true story of a boy who brought electricity to his village!.This is an amazing story of an African village boy who learned a little about wind energy and ended up producing a wind turbine from scratch for his village to provide basic electricity for them. Amazing and innovative kid who previously had no knowledge or experience, and became a hero for his village...providing basic electrical current through wind on a home made windmill. Superb recounting...illuminating and feel-good story. Highly recommended and a clear FIVE STAR rating!

A well written, amazing, true story!.I purchased this book for an English student of mine, that came to the US to learn English and to see how else he can help his struggling country of Haiti. The trees are being cut down for money, on their half of the island, and they are experiencing similar issues as the people in this story, so I hoped to help him find solutions. He doesn't have Netflix to watch the movie, and he's only at a level 4 in English, but it seemed that he could understand much of the book, as it is written at about

Inspiring and Humbling Autobiography.William Kamkwamba, living in Malawi, is dealt with a drought and famine. He took a literacy journey, researching physics and learning English along the way. He learned how to build a windmill to provide electricity for an irrigation system. He became a hero, was awarded scholarships for school, and he completed many interviews. Watch his TedTalks. It is neat to see him develop as a human and gain confidence over the years william has a fantastic personality, humbling the reader instantly.

Great Inspirational Story. You dont want to miss this amazing story of a young Malawian boy who due to a famine, crop failure and extreme poverty was denied entrance to school. Instead he spent every spare moment in his village library where he happened upon a book concerning electricity. With this book he brought electricity to his home. His story is almost unbelievable, except that he succeeded with little more than his wits, determination and a room full of junk! Highly recommended.

An inspirational story.I truly enjoyed this story and am so happy I stuck with it through the first 100 pages. If you find in the first 100 pages that this book doesnt appeal to you, I encourage you to continue on. This story of one mans tenacity against a deck stacked against him is truly inspirational. It makes you believe that you really can do it, if you just first try.
