Works well. See comments..I was able to add this as a second bridge. Make sure you have an account setup with Hue. Also, make sure when setting up the bridge, it has a light to search for and connect with. The bridge will not add itself to your account without a device to control. It took a few attempts to have the new bridge locate my bulb. I ended up requesting it find the bulb with the bulb serial number. After the first bulb, it found the others no problem. Disappointing product.Hub can't locate the existing Phillips hue lights I presently have. Philips hue app and system is poorly developed.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it..I got this as a gift to update my old bridge. Spent over an hour trying to set this up and the App kept crashing and it wouldn't find any of my dozen plus Hue lights. Shouldn't be that hard. My old Bridge took 5 minutes to set up. Wrapped it back up and sending it back. I'll keep running with the old Bridge. You would think as pricey and as long as these lights have been around, the software would be buttery smooth. All the new lights that are out don't even need a separate bridge to control the

Multiple fail connection and firmware updates.Not worth the trouble to even set-up. Multiple fail connection and firmware updates. Took me hours for it to not get disrupted on just the firmware set-up due to failing every minute of the update or halfway through. Seems like an outdated product that needs a newer version of the Hue Smart Hub.

not a necessary tool.Good if you want to link more then 10 bulbs at once. the Bluetooth bulb is enough if you have 10 or less bulbs.

Device regularly contacts China on time protocol.Attached is a screenshot of what the Hub regularly communicates with outside your network. It's not as chatty as a Smart TV but appears to sync time (maybe?) with a China based host. I don't see a need for this when it's also using time[.]android[.]com

Failed a firmware update out of the box, bricking a perfectly good unit.I unboxed this unit and followed the instructions to connect it to my router and set it up through the app. As with any new piece of hardware that connects to the internet, I tried to do a firmware update (and the app actually makes you do this anyway, so you don't have a choice). A couple minutes into the update, the progress bar randomly got stuck, and a few minutes later, the update failed altogether. From that point forward, the bridge would not connect to my router, it would not connect to

Good technology but.Great integration of existing Hue bulbs we used via Bluetooth first. The Hub extended the functionality now. However, sometimes the little things make the difference: the Hub has multiple blue lights and yes -unbelievable- there is NO function to turn them off. Very annoying
